A Canadian radio host and newspaper columnist took off her top during an interview with her local mayor this week and continued asking him questions bare-chested. 
Lori Welbourne, who hosts the radio show On The Rocks and writes a column for the Province newspaper, was talking to Walter Gray, mayor of Kelowna in British Columbia, about whether it was legal in the town for women to bare their breasts in public.
'What if I went walking down the street topless?' she asked in the recorded interview.
But before Gray could answer her question, Welbourne handed him her microphone and undid the strap on her dress, exposing her breasts.
'What are you doing,' he asked, to which she replied, 'it's really hot in here.'
After regaining his composure, Gray explained that while someone may be tempted to call the police there is little authorities could do because it is in fact entirely legal for a woman to be topless anywhere a man can be.
Welbourne's stunt was in anticipation of Sunday's Go Topless Day.

One day last summer, Inna Shevchenko went into a forest outside Kiev, to learn how to use a chainsaw. The lumberjacks who were instructing her couldn't work out why she was so keen. Как сообщили Znak.com в ЦВО, операция, которую они провели на объекте ОАО «Арктикгаз», считается эталонной по точности выстрела из пушки МТ-12 «Рапира» по горящему фланцу: промах на 10 сантиметров вниз был бы чреват разрушением скважины и убытками на 350 млн рублей.

Как ранее сообщал Znak.com, пожар на скважине «Арктикгаз» под Новым Уренгоем начался 19 августа. Как сообщает ЦВО, самостоятельные попытки ликвидировать открытый газоконденсатный фонтан оставались безуспешными – неисправность в арматуре привела к хаотичному выбросу пламени через технологические отверстия, что сделало невозможной работу спасателей и инженеров. Зона термического воздействия расширялась, категория пожара грозила усложниться. После неудачной попытки срезать неисправный фланец направленным лазерным лучом руководство газодобывающей компании совместно с местным подразделением ООО «Газпром газобезопасность» обратились за помощью к командованию ЦВО.

Артиллерийский расчет был переброшен в Новый Уренгой самолетом военно-транспортной авиации, вылетевшим из Оренбурга. Технику и боекомплект погрузили на аэродроме Шагол, после чего артиллеристы под командованием офицера управления ракетных войск и артиллерии ЦВО полковника Геннадия Мандриченко были доставлены на место происшествия.

Орудие было установлено на прямую наводку с минимально допустимого расстояния в 70 метров. Диаметр цели – 20 сантиметров. Прицеливанию мешало пламя, промах грозил разрушением скважины. Задачу артиллеристов газовики сравнили с филигранной ювелирной работой или нейрохирургической операцией. Выстрелы достигли цели. Кумулятивный снаряд УБК-8 поразил фланец верхней части устьевой обвязки скважины, который освободил путь потокам раскаленной плазмы, направив их вертикально вверх.

В настоящее время специалисты «Арктикгаза» приступили к монтажу противовыбросового оборудования, затем они установят гидравлический превентор для герметизации скважины.

США заявили о готовности нанести удар по Сирии

Заместитель министра экономического развития России Андрей Клепач, отвечая на вопросы журналистов во вторник, не исключил, что российское правительство может предпринять какие-либо меры в этой связи.

В белорусском МИДе на это заявили, что Минск действует строго в рамках закона, призвав Москву реагировать "без эмоций".

Владислав Баумгертнер был задержан, когда он собирался покинуть Минск после встречи с премьер-министром Белоруссии. По словам Бабинского, Баумгертнер находился в Белоруссии по письменному приглашению премьера страны.

По озвученным белорусской стороной обвинениям, Владиславу Баумгертнеру грозит до 10 лет лишения свободы.

Звонок о бомбе обеспечил выходной ученикам всех школ американского городка

Ученики всех школ американского города Уотога в штате Северная Каролина были эвакуированы после появившегося сообщения о заложенном взрывном устройстве. Здания школ обследуют специалисты. Пока информации об обнаружении взрывного устройства или отмене эвакуации не поступало.

Как сообщает "Интерфакс" со ссылкой на NBC, в полицию позвонил неизвестный и заявил, что в одной из девяти школ города заложена бомба. Однако он не уточнил, в каком именно учебном заведении. Впоследствии в целях обеспечения безопасности полиция провела эвакуацию всех учащихся.

По словам местных властей, ученики находятся в безопасности и смогут вернуться в школы после проверки.

Russia warns of 'catastrophic consequences' if Syria hit

Russia on Tuesday warned a military intervention in Syria could have "catastrophic consequences" for the region and called on the international community to show "prudence" over the crisis.

"Attempts to bypass the Security Council, once again to create artificial groundless excuses for a military intervention in the region are fraught with new suffering in Syria and catastrophic consequences for other countries of the Middle East and North Africa," foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

"We are calling on our American partners and all members of the world community to demonstrate prudence (and) strict observance of international law, especially the fundamental principles of the UN Charter," he said in a statement.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said that Moscow regretted Monday's decision by the US to postpone a meeting on the Syria crisis, as Western powers mulled military action over last week's chemical attack in Syria.

The scrapping of the meeting, which was due to take place at The Hague later in the week, is the latest sign of a new peak in tensions between Moscow and the West over the possibility of strikes against President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

"It arouses regret that our partners decided to cancel the bilateral meeting," Gatilov said on Twitter.

"Working out the parameters of a political solution in Syria would have been especially helpful right now, when military action is hanging over this country."

In such a climate, it was especially important to work in concert to try to organise the repeatedly postponed peace conference bringing together the Damascus regime and the rebels, Lukashevich added.

"However, the United States' decision to postpone the meeting in The Hague is sending precisely the opposite signal to the opposition, encouraging their intransigence as they await outside intervention," he said.

Lukashevich added convening the peace conference was the "most urgent task."

Western countries led by the United States are considering their response to an alleged chemical weapons attack by Assad's regime on August 21.
